Biggest decision...so far

Recently, as in today, I had the opportunity to go to casting for the next season for the Biggest Loser. At  first, I was all gung-hoe and ready to go(accidental rhyme. possibly). I was so ready to get in front of the camera tell them everything about my life if it meant that I could be on the show. I went back to the last few seasons and watched a few episodes here and there. Something didn't feel right to me, about the show and how some people left last season just because an eliminated player was returing. Sure they said they didn't think it was fair, but it seemed like to much of a petty thing, for them to give up what they had been working for. I googled "what is it really like to be on the biggest loser" I can upon a few interviews, one altered my whole perception of this glorified "reality" television show.

Golda Poretsky did and interview with Kai Hibbard, a Biggest Loser finalist and what I read was shocking and sickening to me, Im not going to review it, because its her property, but the link to the interview is here

I have admired The Biggest Loser for a very long time, how they transform these people like me, into beautiful and in my mind, perfect versions of them selves. But my views on the show has done a 180, show like this should not be legal, the fact that they treat the contestants literally like animals is disgusting. And how they brainwash them into thinking they aren't humans or a lower form of humans is despicable. The show isn't censoring, or cutting clips just for their pleasure. They are using a form of propaganda, to all the viewers. Taking advantage of people who desperately want to get better, and are venerable. The results that are produced on this show, are not realistic nor do they set a good example for people trying to loose weight, and it makes me so angry to think that they can get away with this.

When it came to deciding whether or not to go to the casting, I actually was considering it, for a brief second. I knew I couldn't subject myself to that mental abuse. I came to the realization that these TV shows are not a good goal to aim for, the goal to aim for is being healthy and happy. It doesn't matter if you are 120lbs or 400lbs. I am so outraged that I was almost going to strive for being on that tv show, and I hope and pray that none of you go to the casting for this show or any other similar shows. Every single person is beautiful, you don't need a TV show, or anyone else for that matter, to tell you differnt. But, if you feel that you need someone to, I will!

"Fat Kid Rules The World"

Hi Everyone!
I wanted to post about something today the I feel really strongly about, there is a movie trying to gain publicity and trying to spread all over the US called "fat kid rules the world". Here is a short synopsis of the movie from their website: "Troy Billings is seventeen, overweight, and suicidal. Just as he’s about to jump in front of a bus, he’s saved by Marcus, a charming high school dropout/street musician. The two begin an uneasy friendship when Marcus enlists the musically challenged Troy to become the drummer in a new punk rock band. As Troy’s relationship with Marcus grows, Troy’s father becomes increasingly concerned about his son’s new friendship.
The SXSW Audience Award winning film starring Jacob Wysocki (TERRI), Matt O’Leary (NATURAL SELECTION) and Billy Campbell (THE KILLING) in Matthew Lillard’s directorial debut based on the novel by K. L. Going and produced by Whitewater Films.
The theme of this movie is something that I instantly fell in love with when I saw the trailer, Its something that has really hit home for me because I can relate to what the main character in the film is going through, and really really would love the opportunity to see this movie come to my hometown of Park City, Utah, I have started a tug event and a facebook event: http://www.facebook.com/events/412845668757071/?context=create and if you live in park city and would like to see this happen please let me know, because it would be an amazing experience to see this film!

Perfection

The idea of "perfect" has been on my mind recently, I've been thinking about what it really means to be perfect. Personally, I don't think there is a definition of perfect that can be written down and handed out. I know some of you are probably screaming at me saying "yes there is, its called the dictionary!"At least thats what I'm saying to my self as I read that.

What I consider prefect is probably not what Lindsay Lohan, or Barack Obama consider to be perfect. I don't think that anyone can say what the overlying principle of perfect is. For me, it's important to know what perfect means to me, and try to strive for that. Because if I do, there is a likelihood that I will be generally happy about who I am. Perfection for me is this:
             *Being Healthy; mentally and physically
*Being happy; with how I look and how I feel and what I am doing with my life
*Being honest; with others and my self
For me, it is so important to be honest with my self. If I'm not honest with my self, how can I be healthy or happy? I think we all have our different opinions of what perfect is to each of us, I encourage you to write those ideas down in a familiar place you see every day (your mirror, your phone, computer, etc...) and try to strive for those aspects, so you know that your not being perfect for other people, but for yourself. If you want to, I would love to hear what your definitions of perfect are! share them in the comments below!

Breaking Bounderies

Why is it that as a society we have this overall view of who large women are "supposed to be"? That they shouldn't be working in fashion or any public place where they're body is seen, or they get bombarded with stares and secretive comments? This happens all the time, it's happened to me plenty of times, if you have a problem with how I look or what I wear I would much prefer you to come up to me and voice your opinion instead of whispering it in secret like a bully and a coward. Our country prides it's self on being a "fit" and "health conscious" nation, but we use that as a front. When we really should be education children from elementary level on how to properly care for their body and health, through nutrition and consistent, habit forming excersize. Excersize shouldn't be a task, it should be second nature. The small simple things can change your life, you can park farther away in a parking lot, or instead of rewarding your child with food, reward them with something healthy from an early age to help form that habit.
When I feel like I deserve a reward, my mind immediately goes for candy, or a movie. When a salad or taking a walk with my dog is much more rewarding and makes me feel better. We as a society need to stop criticizing people for their apperance, and start encouraging them to be healthy. Obviously, someone can't form permanent habits for anyone but them selves, but one little complement can completely change how a person feels about them selves. I am going to challenge all of you to find someone, and ask them to go on a walk with you. Invite them to dinner, and only serve organic food, or just tell someone they look good. I promise you, it will change their day. It might even change their life.

Work it out, Working out

Hi everyone!
I wanted to blog about working out today. I am absolutely in love with it! I work out at least 6 days a week for an hour. The first week was absolute hell, I was so sore that I couldn't even move. Walking to the bathroom was painful, let alone going the next day to work out even more, it was hard to even think about. But I pushed my self, and got through it, and now if I'm not at the gym monday through thursday at 6 pm, then I start getting nervous! Working out is becoming habitual, which in the long run, is a very useful tool.
My favorite part of working out is feeling the burn in your muscles after weight lifting, or running. If someone told me 2 months ago that I would be working out 6 out of 7 days of the week, I would have laughed in their face. My point is, that ANYONE can change their life, if you truly have the motivation and drive, anything is possible. There is a quote that I believe represents exactly what I'm going through:
"Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change."
-Anthony Robbins

Thank you guys for reading, I'll leave you with an instagram from earlier this week, It's always intimidating walking into the weight room surrounded by men who's arms are the size of my head

Healthy Jump Start

Hi everyone!
I wanted to post about an amazing new program that I am involved in. It's at my local gym, Silver Mountain Sports club. Its called, if title wasn't revealing enough, Healthy jump start, It's very exciting. Basically, I have made a commitment to work out 6 days a week, for the first 2 weeks, I have the opportunity to work out with a trainer 4 days a week. Then I work out on my own 2 more days during the week. Over the next 6 weeks, the time I get to spend with my trainer slowly decreases, and by the end working out will be like second nature. If I loose 10 lbs by the end, I will receive great rewards, as well as everyone participating in the program. It is an amazing program and I am so excited to share my progress with you!

Redheads Rule

Hi Everyone!

This Weekend I was feeling really spontaneous, While grocery shopping I decided to buy John Ferida Precession Foam Colour in the shade 5G which is a medium golden brown.
I had an appointment at the hair stylist today, so I decided to dye it saturday night and see how I liked it, and if I Ididn't I would just get it fixed at the hair stylist. This was a pretty huge thing for me to do, because I've never gone darker than my natural color, but I'm in love! To my surprise, it actually dyed my hair an auburn/reddish brunette color. I was nervous about going to school today, but I got so many complements, that I decided to cancel my hair appointment and keep it the way it is.  I defiantly recommend this hair dye to anyone, especially first timers, because it is so simple!

Here's my new hair! I am absolutely in love with it!
